On Monday night.....Dump Bachmann reported, Bachmann took to the House floor and paid tribute to the economic policies of Calvin Coolidge and the "Roaring 20s" (the era that ended with a massive monetary contraction and the Great Depression). One particular line really does stand out, though -- saying Franklin Roosevelt turned a recession into a depression through the "Hoot-Smalley" tariffs:
Here's what really happened: When Franklin Roosevelt took office, unemployment was already about 25%. And the tariff referred to here was actually the Smoot-Hawley bill, co-authored by Republicans Sen. Reed Smoot of Utah and Rep. Willis Hawley of Oregon, and signed into law by President Herbert Hoover.

No one said a person needs to pass an IQ test to be a politician. Still, this woman is a joke, even by Republican standards. What a disgrace to the people of both Minnesota and the U.S. she is. I'm sure the Lord told her that the civics textbooks are all written by commie pinko leftist liberals who deliberately covered over the real names of Mr. Hoot and Mr. Smalley. lol
ZIRGAR - And she probably heard him/her say it out loud in her tidy little world of delusion and psychosis.
LOL I didn't realized you posted this too. I happened to be reading TPM and had to comment and expand on what they said. It seems they didn't notice her mistake (see: lie) about Coolidge.
Great minds do indeed think alike :D
AWQM - Yes we do!
Maybe she was thinking of Stuart Smalley. I can see he might be on her mind, what with the eternal senate race nearing the final lap. I wonder if she tells herself that she's good enough, smart enough and that people like her. Cause that wouldn't be entirely accurate.
I've been following her for awhile, and she's such an idiot.
BTW, I am sorry to report I don't have a web cam ;)
ZenYenta - I'm not really sure what she was thinking of. I think she can't think with much more than the ability of a preschooler.
I can't figure out why she got elected in the first place, she makes Minnesota look like it's full of brain-dead people.
Riot Kitty - It seems as if every time she says something like this that she has become even more stupid then her last statement....she's gonna hit super-stupid soon.
I can't stand her voice, it drives me nuts. Ya ever notice that it always goes up the scale at the end of a sentence?
Web cam, just wanted to make sure that wasn't where the porn was comin' from, cause I know a young lady who sends pics of herself to her gay male friend.
If you take on the job of explaining Bachmann's mis-speakings, outright lies, and incomprehensible drivel, you will need much help and have to work in shifts. Personally, I've stopped watching her and any related coverage.
Should you feel compelled, I suggest using one simple sentence that is infinitely modifiable: "Here's more batshit crazy Bachmann for your enjoyment."
Note that only two of the words are unchangable: "batsht" and "Bachmann."
jeg43 - I find it difficult at times to listen to her....her voice alone is enough to drive me up a wall.
Thanks for the idea for the sentence, I may use it at some time.
The DCCC has a web page dedicated to her and her alone. Here's the link...http://www.dccc.org/page/content/bachmannwatch
Feel free.
And I have another general comment: While your site is now on my "read every day" list, I must express a small guilt trip.
I don't comment a great deal here - mostly because I detest repetition. I can stand to type "great post," "good job," "I agree," only so many times before my gag factor kicks in.
You write well and that usually leaves me nothing of value to add.
jeg43 - I understand. I,too, visit several sites on a daily basis but do not always comment....pretty much for the same reasons as you.
So don't feel bad about it, I'm just glad you do read my posts and enjoy them....and thanks for the complement my friend.
