TREE RATS

Squirrels! Those damn little tree rats! That's all they are...tree rats.

I was just out walkin' around the yard, checkin' out how much winter damage we've got, and I looked down and what do you think I see. Holes, hundreds of holes. Holes all over the yard, all from those little tree rats diggin'. Little bastards! The yard looks like someone's been out there with a golf glub hittin' balls and not fillin' in the divots.

We live in town, so I can't go out there and start shootin' 'em. That's too bad, 'cause if I could we'd be havin' a whole lot of squirrel stew!

Damn tree rats!

I think they know that we can't shot them, and that's why they are so brave!

They can make a mess of the yard, can't they?

...."we can't shot them"...

...and ya ever notice, there aren't any out in the country. They know this and they all move in town.

Make a mess of the yard, the eaves, wiring in vehicles....

Live trap and a one way ride out to the country for these guys.

One Fly,
Live trapping sounds like a great idea, I'd just need a bunch of 'em.
We've got like twenty walnut trees, and about 75 - 100 tree rats.
Thanks for the idea though.

Set a log leaning at an angle on a tree, make some small loops with flexible wire at several places along the log. Squirrels are curious and will use the log as a highway up the tree and catch their heads in the loops. Quiet and efficient. Just check often so your neighbors won't freak out.

Thanks for the tip, Terry.

I'll have to see if i can set that up....then I gotta remember to take the dead ones down before the wild cats in the neighbor hood get 'em.

My wife feeds the little bastards!! I like Terry's idea. May have to try that on an obscure location on the plantation to keep peace in the house.

Yeah, Willis, I think Terry's got a good idea there, too.

My wife would just as soon see them little buggers all drop dead...but she doesn't want me to help them along with a crossbow.

I've never had them around enough to be a nuisance. But I do like the cartoon ones :)

Hey, willis, I'm guessing you're a bass player, as am I. Rock on!

Shea,

I like the cartoon one's, too.
And it's too bad these little guys ain't, they'd be easier to deal with.

As far as them being a nuisance, there's so damn many of 'em, they can't help but be a nuisance. I know part of the reason we have so many is because of all the walnut trees we have, but I'm not cuttin' them down just to get rid of the squirrels.
