This morning I found a link at a post that Cats r Flyfishn has up on her blog, Pennsylvania for Change.
The title of the post is The New Hoovervilles.
The link she has there is is for the Progressive Job Board. It's still 'under construction' but will have jobs posted from all over the place. There is a place to click on to post a job, so if you know of anyone who is looking to hire employees please tell them about this site. Right now there are only two posted.
I have put the link in my sidebar under the heading 'Jobs List'. Hopefully I'll be able to add more in the future.
I am looking for work, which isn't easy to come by, and I know there are allot of others looking, also. Maybe this will be able to help someone. I'm hopeful that I'll be able to find a job soon, either through this site, one like it, or on my own.
To all those reading this who are unemployed, I wish you luck in finding employment. No mater how many times you hear the words "We are not hiring" don't quit looking, something will turn up sooner or later.

GE, I am curious - what did you used to do? My email can be found on my blogger profile if you don't want to broadcast the answer in a blog forum :)
I truly identify with your plight. Here's my story:
I had a career as a typsesetter (or so I thought) until the business shut down in 1990 or so. I was devastated, but found another job doing lesser tyesetting (it was a dying skill that has since been replaced by desktop publishing). I was laid off from that job, and basically had a nervous breakdown (at the same time I was laid off, a girl broke up with me and the little rock band I was in broke up).
Then, however, I found a program through my state's unemployment/job service called the Dislocated Worker program. It offered assistance to pay for retraining, so I was able to take some classes which led me into the human services field where I am currently employed.
It's a big leap from typestting to human services, but my experience with job loss helped give me a real aptitude for the "helping" professions. I went from being somewhat self-centered to altruistic - even worked providing care to developmentally disabled adults for a while.
I guess I'm rambling now, but just wanted to say I can really appreciate what your going through.
Just be sure to wrap that hand during those times when you want to put a fist through the wall :)
Hey Eddie...hope you can find a job soon, my friend. I'm just glad that I'm out of the rat race...and that so far I haven't had he urge to rejoin, if you know what I mean.
Hang in there, buddy!
Thanks for your thoughts, Jim, I do appreciate that.
Thanks for the offer Shea, I'll be contacting you soon.
Hi Grandpa Eddie - Thanks for linking to my blog. Just wanted to let you know that "he" is a "she" :) I'm a female.
Good luck with your job search. I retired from a really good paying job that I didn't have to leave except for the fact that I couldn't stand working there any longer. Now, I am self employed and not making much money at all. As I say, I am poor but I am happy.
We will make it through these hard times if we help each other.
I'm so sorry, Cats r Flyfishn.
Just me bein' a dumb guy, assuming that you were a guy 'cause I didn't notice anything that would identify you as a lady. My fault.
Your welcome for the link, glad to do it. I don't have many readers, but I like to let them see the interesting things I've found.
Once again, sorry for the screw-up, and I hope you come back again
No problem. I'm pleased to have a connection in Wisconsin. Someday I may visit and will need to know where to find the good fishing streams.
C'mon up, I'm sure we can find ya something.
CatsrFlyfishn, I did the same thing, left a cushy corporate job to work for myself as a freelance multimedia designer, which was an 8year struggle with some success but in the end too hard. I hope you do better than me. I work for a nonprofit now, which is awesome, and I get to work from home for my favorite cause: Animal rights.
Grandpa Eddie, I'm sure if you just keep working at it, you'll get something. That's what I did.
Grandpa Eddie, I just noticed your Cuss-O-Meter. I like that! I promise I will do my damndest to cuss as much as I fuckin' can to make it all worthwhile... damn it!
If only it would pay money for every occurrence. Oops, I mean every goddamned occurrence. Sorry.
Thanks Helen, just ain't much for jobs in the papers or on line here right now. There is a Job Fair at the area Tech school near me on Thursday, so I'll be going to that.
Shea, I wanna hear that cussin' like the sound of a fighter jet 50 feet above my house.
I'll be sending that email soon. Just gotta remember everything I can do and have done.
It's funny, I think I get more impact online if I use the old !@#$%^&! to make a point :)
I hear ya, dude, and I gotta f!@#$%g agree with ya.
