PRESIDENT'S DAY

I remember when I was a kid....back when dinosaur rides were the latest rage....we would do somethin' special in school for Abe's birthday, and also for George's birthday. But that was always on the 12th and the 22nd, not on some frickin' Monday.

But Congress couldn't leave well enough alone. In all their wisdom (tongue in cheek here), they decided to cram them both together so the could get another day off, along with the Post Office all the banks and all those screamin' brats from Illinois......not that I have anything against folks from Illinois, just the screamin' brats that come up here.

It's not like I have anything against celebrating President's Day, 'cause I don't. I just can't see why Congress made it a Monday. Why not Friday? Mondays almost always suck, and when ya get Monday off from work Tuesday turns into Monday! Sure, the work week is shortened....that is if you have a job where you get the day off....but wouldn't it be better to shorten it at the other end?

And why are Abe's and George's birthdays the only ones on the calender? Why not Thomas Jefferson? Hell, he was one of the authors of the Declaration of Independence. Or how about Franklin Roosevelt, the guy that led us out of the Great Depression? Or Teddy Roosevelt of Rough Rider fame? Teddy also gave us allot of our National Parks. And let's not forget JFK.

For that matter, why not have every President's birthday on every calender. After all they were the elected leaders of our country. Just a thought. What say you?

Hey Gramps...if we go along thoase lines, we would have 44 holidays a year to celebrate...but then we would have to have a 1/2 day off for all the vice-presidents.

We better not say this too loud, or else the gubment might get ideas!

Jim,
Just leave it at one day off. I just want to see the rest of the BD's on the calender.

As far as the VPs...do you really wanna celebrate Spiro T. Agnew?

I know... we each get to pick a dozen presidents, then take an extra ten-minute break four times a day for three days! That way, it's almost as complicated as politics! And, people can say, "Hey, my dozen's better than your dozen."
