HOW FASCISM TAKES CONTROL

I found this at Information Clearing House.

FASCISM THEN. FASCISM NOW?

When people think of fascism, they imagine Rows of goose-stepping storm troopers and puffy-chested dictators. What they don't see is the economic and political process that leads to the nightmare.

By Paul Bigioni

Before the rise of fascism, Germany and Italy were, on paper, liberal democracies. Fascism did not swoop down on these nations as if from another planet. To the contrary, fascist dictatorship was the result of political and economic changes these nations underwent while they were still democratic. In both these countries, economic power became so utterly concentrated that the bulk of all economic activity fell under the control of a handful of men. Continued.

I found this to be a very informative article. I think we all should read this and listen to what it's saying.

Grandpa Eddie: Fascism is exactly why my father's parents left Italy and came to the US in the early 1920s. They were tiny children at the time, but their families were unable to maintain their very small family-owned business (glass making artists in N. Italy)and farm (family run small goat/sheep/ chicken farm in the "boot" of S. Italy) b/c of the strongarm tactics of the fascists. They, their property, and their livelyhoods were threatened and ultimately confiscated. My grandfather was only 4 when he arrived in America, but my great grandparents were so happy and proud to be here that they named their first child born on US soil America-Ann Liberty.
Sadly... I'm sure they are rolling in their graves now at the state of things.

I was fascinated by this article. Again, the old adage rings true: those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. I think each and every registered voter in this country needs to read and comprehend this article. Democracy is not something to be taken for granted, as it can be taken from us by the very people who say they are protecting it.

Tina,
This country has always been a refuge for those fleeing Fascism in their homelands.

It's sad to think we may very well become one of those countries.

J.J.,
"Democracy is not something to be taken for granted..."

How true this is. We must always be watchful of what those "in charge" are doing to be sure we do not lose our liberties.

Grandpa Eddie, this is off-topic, but I need to tell you: whenever I try to access your blog using microsoft's internet explorer, it freezes up! I can't figure out why. If I use Firefox, it works fine. Maybe a link or something on yout blog currently is making IE go loopy..? It's weird. I thought you should know in case others report it, too. It might be your site, or it might be my computer(s) - it happens on both my desktop and laptop. I don't want your great site to lose traffic - I like it here!

I sure hope that you two are busy with Christmas decorations there.

That or writing THE post that will get these criminals fired right now.

Shea,
Hey pal, thanks for letting me know about the problem with my blog and IE. Could be something I've got in a post...or some link. Workin' on a few things to see if I can correct it.

Sorry I didn't get back to ya right away...workin' alot of OT and everything is gettin' backed up.

Granny,
I'm still here. Been pretty busy with the holidays, plus OT at work. I've been wantin' to post but haven't had much spare time.

Haven't quit...too damn stubborn to do that. I really do wish I could write THE post to bring them all down.

Hell I don't care if you're busy. The problem was that neither you or Mary posted for a while and I wasn't sure she wasn't sick from her latest treatment.

I still wish you could write THE post!
