SUSPECT ARRESTED IN THE DEATH OF LITTLE SANDRA CANTU

The young life of Sandra Cantu was snuffed out at the tender age of eight. It appears now that her life was ended by a person she trusted, her Sunday School teacher. We have seen Catholic Priests charged with sexual assault of children. We have also seen prominent leaders in the evangelical community get involved with drugs, prostitutes, and gay lovers. Now we have a Sunday School teacher being charged with murder.

From MSNBC:

TRACY, Calif. - The woman suspected of killing an 8-year-old girl found stuffed into a suitcase is being held in an observation cell where jail staff monitor her mental health, officials said.

Melissa Huckaby, a 28-year-old Sunday school teacher, is in custody at the San Joaquin County Jail, held without bail on suspicion of murder and kidnapping of Sandra Cantu. The girl was a playmate of her 5-year-old daughter, Madison.
**********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
Sandra Cantu disappeared on March 27, and her body was found by farmworkers, stuffed in a suitcase in an irrigation pond on April 6. Huckaby was arrested early Saturday.
*********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
"She just always had an extra patience with her. Never raised her voice. Never yelled. Never struck her," Brian Lawless said. "She was that same way with other children. She loved other children."

Madison played often with Sandra, who lived down the street from where Huckaby lived with her grandfather, Clifford Lawless, the church's pastor.

San Joaquin County Sheriff's Deputy Les Garcia said the mental health staff has not cleared Huckaby to have visitors at the jail and she is still in an observation cell. Huckaby has also turned down media requests for interviews, Garcia said.

It was not immediately clear if Huckaby had hired an attorney.

Police said inconsistencies in Huckaby's story led to her arrest about five hours after she drove to the police station at the request of investigators late Friday. They said they have no motive for the slaying and declined to say where or how the girl was allegedly killed.

UPDATE: I just heard on MSNBC that little Sandra Cantu may have been murdered at the church where she attended Sunday School.

white oleander - It is sad and horrific, especially considering the fact that Sandra knew her accused killer....just as the pedophile priests were known by those they abused.

It is a shame when children cannot trust those who they think they can.

It's such a shame that the children of today are subjected to all these sick folks, which seem to be coming out of the woodwork more and more lately!

Makes me sick...

Jim - It is a shame, and it's one that needs to be stopped. It makes me sick, and having grandchildren, it also makes me very angry.

On a lighter note, thanks for stopping by my friend.

white oleander - I'm not sure what evidence they have that they are not saying anything about, but I am sure we will eventually find out what it is.

I also thank you for stopping by and look forward to your return.
