APOLOGIES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

As you can tell, I haven't been posting much lately. There is a reason for that, which I will get to further down this post....but first an apology.

To those of you who are (or were) regular readers, I apologize for not having posted more frequently, as in the past, and for not putting this post up sooner. For those of you who have just started reading my blog I also wish to apologize.

To those of you whose blogs I visit daily (usually) I apologize for not having visited much lately, if at all. I especially wish to apologize to Fixer, Gordon and AOB at Alternate Brain, Shea at Constantly Amazed and Liberal Thought, and sweet Tina at Fuzzy And Blue....who gets an extra apology because I think I may have offended her with a response to a comment she made to one of my most recent posts. I am sorry if I offended or upset you, kid.

Now to try to give you an explanation as to why I haven't been posting and visiting your blogs without going into all the long boring stuff.

About two months ago Mary's parents offered us one hell of a deal on their house....one we just couldn't pass up. It's an older home that has had several additions since the original house was built in 1841. There is a carriage barn behind the house which is in great condition, and the property is 410 feet deep....a full acre.

Getting the loan was a real pain in the ass, though. The morgage company made us jump through all kinds of hoops. We would get done jumping through one set and they would have another set waiting for us. After alot of scrambling, the loan finally went through.

Mom and dad have moved out, but have moved to a much smaller place....so there's a lot of stuff that they left behind. Some of it will be sold at the rummage sale Mary, her sister, and her mom are going to have later. Some will be split up between Mary and her sister and Mary's two kids. The rest looks like it will end up at Goodwill or in the trash.

Both Mary and I are going to be very busy over the next couple of months with this list (and probably much more) of things:

1) Make room in the carriage barn for things from both the new and old houses.
2) Get the rest of the things left behind by mom and dad from the house to wherever it's supposed to go.
3) Paint the rooms in the our new house before we start moving in. It's been several years since they have been painted...and neither Mary nor I like her mom's color selection.
4) Move all of our things....including Mary's 23 years of "collecting"....into the new house.
5) Do all the things....painting, repairs, etc....that need to be done to the old house in order for us to be able to rent it out or, eventually, sell it.

All of this plus all the regular lawn maintinance on a full acre and another half acre, along with Mary looking for employment.

As you can see we both are going to be very busy over the next couple of months...cause it's gonna take that long, at least. One of the easy parts of this whole thing is that the new house is less than a block away.

I will try to get at least a couple of posts up every week, and I will try to keep you updated on our progress. I will also try real hard to get around to other blogs for visits.

Please accept this apology and thanks for your patients.

I wish you all the best in the new house. I love a place with history and stories surrounding it and from its age, that house has a lot to tell. Glad to see mama's up to it too.

Fixer,
Thanks, pal. It seems like every time we go over to work on "the project" we notice or find something we hadn't before.

Mama's feeling much better but still has days that aren't quite as good as others. The arthritis in her knees has been really bothering her lately....found out that the hormone treatment she is on makes the arthritis even worse. But she's a real trooper and she's workin' thru it.

First things first of course. I hope all is going well with you (other than meeting yourself coming and going).

I'll be around. Take care, both of you.

Aaaw... you are oh-so-sweet Grandpa Eddie. It is all good. No offense taken. We've had DSL/ phone service issues (damn those corporate cretins SBC/AT&T to Hell!!) so my ability to get online has been spotty recently... plus, we've been busy outside with BabyGirl since the weather broke and she's feeling up to playing like her old self again. Hubby built her a giant wooden sandbox last weekend and this weekend he began a cedar wood fort/ swingset. I see this project taking a bit longer than the sandbox.
Good luck on the house. I hope all goes smooth and that everyone's health (or knees and backs) holds up during all of the renovations. :)

Congratulations on the house. No problemo on the infrequent blogging... I go through up-and-down blogging periods for various reasons too. But rest assured that those of us who dig this blog will not desert you!

My wife and I really enjoy yard sales and thrift stores, by the way, so I wish I could be there for yours. Hey, you could always sell stuff on Ebay!

Ann,
Well, other then a few hang-ups, everything is starting to go a little smoother.

As far as meeting myself "coming and going", that has happened at least twice....But Mary seems to be following her self around at times.

Tina,
I am soooo glad to hear that I didn't offend you. I was gettin' a little concerned though when you didn't swing by for a few days, but your explanation of what happened with the DSL made me feel much better.

It's good to hear that the munchkin is getting back to her playful ways....sounds like Hubby is gonna be busy for awhile though.

Shea,
Thanks for the "congrats" and for the understanding about the infrequent blogging. With all the irons we have in the fire at the present sometimes blogging is the last thing I think of....until it's sack time, and by then it's way too late. Gotta be up at 2:30am.

Sounds like the two of you and the two of us need to go on a "shopping spree" together. We both love to shop the Thrift Stores and rummage sales....ya just don't know what kind of treasures and cool things ya might find.

I'm not sure about doing the Ebay thing with all of the stuff...Mary's mom used to have a number of garage sales every summer until a few years ago so she's looking foward to it, kinda. Mary did have a thought though after I shared your comment with her. She said we could take the stuff that doesn't sell, put several things in a box, and sell the boxes as "surprize boxes" on Ebay....but I wouldn't count on that happenin'. We're both gonna be so tired of lookin' at and movin' all of it that it will probably get taken to Goodwill and anything left will get pitched. You're always welcome to come and pick it up though.

Yeh, I've had those times that I just don't feel like it or can't come up with anything 'cause I'm drawin' a blank. But this isn't one of those times. I wanna post, I just can't find enough time to do that and work on "the project"...and right now "the project" comes first.

I like your idea of the public screening, but why stop there? We've got a pulley system in the loft and plenty of.....I think I'll stop there.
